Suzuki Intruder FI has been displayed at the ongoing 2018 Auto Expo; sees no change in power output.
Last year, Suzuki launched its first affordable cruiser offering in the Asian market in the form of Intruder 150. The Avenger-rival was at par or better than the competition in most aspects but was let down by the brand’s limited visibility in the country. Expanding the Intruder range further, Suzuki Intruder FI has been put on display at the 2018 Auto Expo. As the name suggests, the model is equipped with Fuel Injection (FI) in place of a carburettor seen on the standard Intruder.
Powered by the Gixxer’s 155cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, the Intruder FI churns out 14.8 PS of power and 14 Nm of torque. As predicted earlier, there is no change in the power and torque outputs. Mated to a 5-speed gearbox, the engine is claimed to be high on responsiveness as well as fuel efficiency. The addition of FI has resulted in a minor 1 kg increase in kerb weight, which now stands at 149 kgs. Fuel tank capacity is rated at 11-litres.
As with the voluminous bodywork, there are no changes seen on the suspension and braking setup. The Intruder FI is suspended via 41 mm telescopic forks at the front and a 7-step adjustable mono shock unit at the rear. Braking duties are performed by disc brakes on both the wheels with the front wheel coming equipped with a single-channel ABS unit as standard. Some of the prominent features include an LED projector headlamp, fully digital instrument cluster, LED tail-lamp, alloy wheels and comfortable split seats.
The Intruder FI comes with 17-inch alloys shod with 100 and 140 section tyres at the front and rear respectively. The Gixxer FI when launched came with a premium of around Rs. 3800/- over the standard version. Expect the fuel-injected Intuder 150 to make it to Asia soon at a similar price premium over the carburetted variant.
