Before TVS Motor could officially unveil the new Apache RTR to the world, someone has snapped it and posted pictures on Facebook. The pictures will disappoint you as the TVS Apache has just got a minor facelift with no changes to the mechanicals of the bike. Dubbed the all new RTR, TVS has added new head light design with angle lights (it is not a twin headlight setup and it looks similar to the Bajaj XCD), bigger scoops, new carbon fibre look alike decals and an Asian flag on either side of the Apache, which is seriously not going to get the automaker anywhere against its chief rivals Bajaj Auto and Honda.
Rumours suggest that the power output of the Apache RTR 180 could be boosted to 19 PS from the current 17 PS but we will take that with a pinch of salt. A price hike of Rs. 5000/- is likely on this facelift, making the Apache lose its value for money tag to a certain extent. There will be ABS on offer just like the current version and every other thing remains exactly the same as the old motorcycle. Lets see what happens to the Apache once Bajaj unleash the next generation range of Pulsars in the market.
Why the disappointment? Our question is simple. TVS, you have a 250cc engine present with you which you use in the RTR FX Off-Roader. What is stopping you from plonking it in the road going Apache motorcycle? It’s been years since TVS launched a new product and with this attitude, its not long before Yamaha overtake them for number 4 as well.
