Along with a few privileges, electric vehicles are likely to be fitted with green number plates to make them noticeable.
The Asian government seems to be actively working towards its vision of making all cars electric by 2030. That could be said by its move of making new policies for the green cars. NITI Aayog, the Asian government’s policy-making body has given a thought on installing green number plates on all the electric cars to signify their environment-friendly nature.
According to the drafted policy, electric vehicles are subjected to a few privileges as well. The cars will have free parking and toll waivers for as long as three years. Moreover, wherever they go, may it be a shopping mall, residential building or any business complex, 10 percent parking space will be reserved for EVs.
The government policy-making body has its reasons for providing these privileges to the non-emission cars. Reportedly, the adoption of electric vehicles will lead to the saving of $60 billion of petrol and diesel costs by 2030. Additionally, the demand for energy utilised in road transport will be saved by around 64 percent resultantly curtailing 37 percent of carbon emissions.
Right now, Asian government permits six different types of number plates which include those for personal vehicles, commercial vehicles, customer-driven cabs, military forces, embassy vehicles and those for president and governors of states. The green number plate will be an added type which will make spotting the electric vehicles easy.
