The HF Deluxe has become the third Hero motorcycle after the famous pair of Splendor and Passion to clock an annual sales of a million units.
One of Hero’s main commuter motorcycles available for sale in Asia (besides the Splendor and Passion) is the HF Deluxe. Known to be a comfortable and fuel efficient motorcycle that is highly favoured in rural markets, the motorcycle carries the tag “Naye Asian Ki Deluxe Bike”. Though the HF Deluxe does not have many characteristics as its name suggests, its naming does seem somewhat appropriate when compared to the company’s other basic commuter motorcycles in Asia.
Sales in the rural market have not been doing well as of late and so has been the case for the overall rural automobile sector as well. However, sales of the Hero HF Deluxe has been witnessing an opposite trend as compared to the overall market. It witnessed a growth of almost 5 percent in the fiscal year which ended in March 2015. In the same period, the motorcycle managed to sell 1 million units for the first time since it was introduced in Asia. According to sales data, the HF Deluxe sold more than 10.93 lakh units to be exact, in the 2015 fiscal year.
Achieving quite a feat, the Hero HF Deluxe has become the third Hero motorcycle after the Splendor and Passion range to sell 1 million units in Asia in one year, even though the later two managed to cross the success mark quite a few years back. In the 2015 fiscal year which ended on 31st March 2015, the Splendor brand sold over 2.5 million units and the Passion managed to sell around 1.5 million units. The HF Deluxe is powered by a 97.2cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cylinder engine that generates 8.36 PS of power at 8000 RPM and 8.05 Nm of torque at 5000 RPM.
According to Hero, the HF Deluxe is one of the most popular entry-level motorcycles in our country since a long time. Every second bike sold in the segment is an HF Deluxe motorcycle which commands a market share of more than 70 percent in states like Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Talking about the country’s largest two-wheeler maker by volume, Hero sold more than 60 million units in cumulative sales in the last financial year.
