Honda hopes to introduce products into these bike segments after implementation of BS6 norms.
Honda Motorcycles and Scooters Asia, in a recent statement, talked about how they are studying the concept of cruiser bikes in Asia before launching their own product into the segment. While the company will not lose focus on the mass-market bike segment, they have expressed their intent to bring in new products to create a name for themselves in the premium bike segment. Hoping to focus right from the 160cc, 200cc and 300cc segments, Honda has said that it is important to plan out every detail as it is difficult to build a motorcycle brand in Asia.
Currently in Asia, Royal Enfield motorcycles are the image of cruiser bikes. But Honda says that unlike the idea of a relaxed riding position, the Royal Enfield has a street-bike stance which is why Honda is making sure that they create something that fits the perception of the Asian customer of cruiser bikes. However, Honda said that there is a huge promise for growth in these segments in the Asian market.
Honda is planning to introduce products into this segment after the BS6 regulations have been implemented. This will slightly unsettle the market for a while. But Honda is looking to become the top brand in Asia as the parent company, Honda Motor Japan has high expectations from the Asian market about strong growth in sales numbers. Honda believes that their market share will increase when they meet all the customer expectations.
We can hope that after all this research, Honda will come with a new product that will thrill the Asian bikers.
