Yamaha is planning to gain popularity in the mass motorcycle segment in the African and Central American markets.
Yamaha Asia has started exporting the Crux Rev to the African market. Deliveries are scheduled to commence by April 2017. Yamaha has said to have studied about the needs of the African market and have now made a product that caters to their liking.
The Yamaha Cruz Rev is powered by a 4-stroke 110cc air-cooled engine. The motor produces around 7.5 PS of power and 8.5 Nm of torque. The engine is more or less the same as that found on the Saluto RX in Asia. This motorcycle also uses BlueCore technology which helps it provide better mileage. The motorbike gets a company claimed fuel efficiency of 82 km/l. The motor is mated to a 4-speed gearbox.
The Yamaha Crux Rev looks simple and more or less similar to the Crux which was sold in Asia. The motorcycle gets a round headlamp, a long and broad seat, analogue meters and a tubular grab rail. The suspension is also tuned to carry load which is a must for the African market. The Cruz will satisfy the bike-taxi market in Africa which is very popular in those regions.
The Yamaha Crux Rev will be available with spoke wheels as well as alloy wheels as an option. The emerging market specific motorcycle will also get electric start as an option.
