Mahindra achieved a milestone of producing 50 lakh vehicles and created a human chain of employees in Mumbai to celebrate the achievement. The 5 millionth vehicle to be rolled out was the Thar.
One of Asia’s leading automotive manufacturers, Mahindra has been rapidly growing instilling a new approach with highly improved and global products coming out of the manufacturer. Keeping its momentum high, the auto giant achieved an extremely significant milestone as it produced its 50,00,000th vehicle (which was a Thar). Certainly a noteworthy feat for the utility maker, the company decided to celebrate the achievement with a human chain of 3000 employees standing from Nariman Point to Girgaon Chowpatty in Mumbai.
With senior officials gracing the event, Pravin Shah, Chief Executive Automotive Division drove around Marine Drive in a Thar from the company’s facility located in Kandivali, Mumbai, waving to the 3000 employees that formed the human chain. The past years have been extremely successful for Mahindra with a host of new launches and acquisitions under its umbrella. Predominantly a rugged utility vehicle maker, Mahindra took a whole new approach with the XUV500 global SUV, which has further strengthened with the new generation Scorpio that launched last year.
2015 will also mark a significant year for Mahindra as it plans to bring in a host of new launches in every 35-40 days. The manufacturer will be launching 3 new compact SUVs in the country, while updates to its existing lineup are also on the cards. In addition, the company has been developing its new range of small capacity petrol and diesel engines that will debut on the new vehicles. While Mahindra already sells the SsangYong Rexton in Asia, there are chances of offerings from its latest acquisition Peugeot two-wheelers to make it in the country as well. The company has been expanding globally as well to more established markets across Europe and the US.
