RE Thunderbird 350X & 500X have been launched in Asia to be sold alongside the standard Thunderbird range.
Ahead of introducing the highly-anticipated 650 twins in the market, Royal Enfield has added two more products to its Thunderbird series to expand its portfolio and give the range a wider appeal. RE Thunderbird 350X & 500X prices, at Rs. 1.56 lakhs and Rs. 1.98 lakhs respectively (ex-showroom, Delhi), carry a premium of roughly Rs. 8000/- over the regular variants. The X series offers more features, revised design elements and pop colour options.
To begin with, both the 350X and 500X offer a new flat handlebar, sleek grab rails, gunslinger-style seat, tubeless tyres, alloy wheels, and an all-black theme with body colour limited to the fuel tank. Projector headlamp with LED DRL, twin-pod console, fuel tank, fenders and body panels have been carried over from the regular Thunderbird. The manufacturer has got rid of chrome as a major number of parts, right from the handlebars to the exhaust pipe, are dipped in black.
Mechanically, the duo continues to use single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled engines that come mated to a 5-speed gearbox. While the 346cc unit on the 350X is good for 19.8 BHP of power and 28 Nm of torque, the 499cc motor on the 500X churns out 27.2 BHP of power and 41.3 Nm of torque. Providing a modern touch to the Thunderbird series, the cruisers are available in vibrant colour options – Getaway Orange and Drifter Blue for the 500X and Whimsical White and Roving Red for the 350X.
