Suzuki Burgman Street scooter to be launched at the 2018 Auto Expo, likely to displace 150cc.
Suzuki has developed a premium scooter for Asia called the Burgman Street. The Burgman is Suzuki’s brand of flagship scooter sold in international markets in 125cc, 200cc, 250cc, 400cc and 600cc guises. The maxi-scooter is being indigenously developed in Asia to cater to the premium scooter segment. While engine specifications aren’t known yet, it would be safe to assume that the Burgman Street could either share the 125cc engine from the Access 125 or could possibly feature a new 150cc powertrain.
The Burgman Street will be a feature-packed scooter offering goodies like a fully-digital instrument cluster, generous under seat storage, 12V charging socket, disc brake, telescopic forks, LED headlight and tail-light and tubeless tyres. Focusing more on comfort, the Burgman Street is unlikely to come shod with fatter rubber but the rim size could measure as much as 14-inches. The scooter could sport a uniquely-designed front end with a large apron and a windscreen. The model seen here borrows the mirrors from the Gixxer and the exhaust too seems to have a unique but interesting design. As any Burgman scooter, the seat will be large and comfortable with an evident step between the rider and pillion pads.
With prices expected to be around Rs. 70,000-75,000/- mark, the Burgman will challenge the Aprilia SR 150 and Vespa 150. As scooters are gaining increased acceptance in both urban and rural sections of Asia, it’s time automakers offered us premium scooters with more power and more comfort.
