TVS is developing the premium Maxi scooter which is heavily influenced by the TVS Entorq 210 Concept.
TVS is set to enter the premium scooter segment by 2019 and is developing an Entorq 210 Concept-based Maxi scooter. The Entorq 210 Concept was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo and grabbed attention with its futuristic looks and advanced features.
Powering the Maxi scooter will be a 150cc engine and not a 210cc engine. This is probably being done to enhance the rideability as well as keep the running costs down. The motor is said to be an all new one and will feature fuel injection to get class leading power figures. The design is expected to be much like the Concept scooter. It might not be suited to everyone’s liking but is sure to grab eye balls and will especially attract the younger crowd.
To keep the production costs under check, TVS will be borrowing parts such as the Smart Connect system and the switchgear from the successful Ntorq 125 currently on sale in Asia. The display on the under-development scooter is also expected to get a navigation system to show you the way around the city. Other features such as the single-channel ABS and keyless go will be carried over from the concept scooter. Even though part sharing will take place, the overall fit and finish of the scooter will be a notch higher.
The Maxi will be produced at TVS’ Hosur factory where the BMW G310R and G310 GS are already in production. The expertise from BMW and their stringent quality control will surely trickle down to the TVS products making them even better. The Asian market will be the first to get the Maxi and TVS plans to export it to developing countries too.
